Stephen was a kind, patient and loving man. I worked at Church Headquarters during the time he served as Director of the Copyright and Permissions Office and followed him in being appointed Manager of the office. He fulfilled this responsigility with efficiency and dignity. He was very inspiring to associate with and a great example to all he worked and associated with. I consider it a privilege to have known and learned so much from him.
I express my sympathy to the family and add my...

Steve was known and loved by my grandfather, father, and myself. He was my Bishop in Short Hills and gave me my Patriarchal blessing. The Fletcher home was one of the closest to the Short Hills chapel and hosted firesides and other gatherings. Everyone was welcome in their home.

Stephen Fletcher was a dear friend from New Jersey East Orange Ward days, and our bishop in Short Hills Ward in the late 1950's and 60's. He was a prayerful man with vision both in leading us and counseling us with our problems. His wife Dorothy was such a gentle, sweet and loving friend to us and companion to him. I appreciate the friendship I've had with his family and especially with Jean in our childhood and youth. I loved the invitations to their home and the influence there; the fun...

I always loved Stephen. I grew up in he Short Hills ward and he was my Bishop. He confirmed me a member of the church when I was 16 and allowed to be baptised. Dorothy taught me also. They were very loving and special people. The kids my age spent a lot of time at their house( I lived an hr from church so we often stayed between meetings). He made a big impact and I can still feel his love. Laura Maggard(Thompson)

Dear Bill and family,
What a privilege it has been to visit you and Stephen over these last months of his life. He was always so pleasant, even though his abilities were so limited. I could always look forward to stimulating conversation with you as well. May the Lord truly bless and comfort you in your loss and grief. A great reunion surely awaits you!
Sincerely,
Don Christenson

He and his family (parents, siblings) stand tall in the memory of the James S. Knecht family from the earliest days of the Church in Brooklyn.

Steve was such a gentle and loving man. As young marrieds in the Short Hills Ward, we learned a lot from his excellent example.
