Not sure what to say?

Meeting at Steve's house in the morning before heading to high school.

I just learned of Mr. Goddard's passing. I grew up on Ridgefield Street, and I remember spending time at your house on Canterbury, plating with Teagan, Bradley and Chelsea. Mrs. Goddard and Mr. Goddard were always kind and caring. I, along with the Pryor family, extend our belated condolences to your family.

Stephen and I worked together at the Hartford Times back in the early 70s. He was an awesome journalist. I would run into him at the Hartford Times Reunions. Great guys who will be sorely missed.

Stephen and Patty rented the tiny apartment at the rear of their home on Canterbury Street to us in 1972. He was a true gentleman and friend to us. We grew to love him and his wife and family. I was so saddened to learn of his death today. My sincere condolences to all.

Patty,
Jack and I were very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. (We sent you a letter but must not have your correct address.) He was such a great person and we have very fond memories of good times on Congress Street, Woodside Circle and Gold Street. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Lisa and Jack

I still remember our days at Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor.

Steve's energy improved the Hartford community and engaged all he interacted with in meaningful and fun dialogue. He was an inspiration and will be sadly missed.

I am very saddened to hear of this wonderful man's passing. I knew Stephen Goddard as the father of Chelsea, my student at Noah Webster School, as an impressive lawyer, and as a writer and lecturer of amazing depth and breadth. He was a charming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable communicator. I remember one lecture on the history of CT transportation that was riveting - scholarly and entertaining.

He was truly as someone else observed a Renaissance man.
My heartfelt sympathy to his...

With the passing of Steve, we have lost, to the ages, an extraordinary talent and a very special and loving person, who was a dear longtime friend of our family. A journalist, lawyer, author and a servant leader of our community, he was a positive force for good. His service and leasdership on the Board of the Hartford Public Library helped to transform the Library into the community resource it is today.

To Patty, Taegan, Brad, Chelsey and your entire family, we also mourn deeply his...
