I worked with Steve back in 1978 and 1979. He was a great guy. Since 1979 I've lived in NYC and Los Angeles. I am planning a trip soon to visit my brother who lives near Denver. Its been decades since I've visited. I wanted to look up old friends I haven't seen in decades. Steve was one of them. He was a great guy and I am so sorry he is no longer with us. My heart goes out to his family and friends and please know that after 40 years, he left a wonderful impression on me that allowed me...

I often write what I see and feel. Words can sometime be hollow, typical and repetitive. I chose my mind's eye to voice my memories of Steve.
He turned - a soulful smile.
His pain - silent, never owning him.
His tender embrace - a stranger, though never strange.
A voice that guided - not unruly, nor demanding. Never selfish.
His heart - sensitive acceptance, never judging.
His intelligence - captivating, often mind bending.
His significant journey -...

Steve was a one in a million person. I was honored to know him -not only as the husband of my best friend - but as a very dear friend to me. It is so true that the good die much too young. The glow and light that he had will live on in all the people who loved and knew him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

When Becky worked at our Party Store, Steve was always a welcome presence. Witty and wise, he made us chuckle and made our day brighter. Our thoughts go out to Becky and Kate. We send our love and cherish our memories of Steve.

It was an honor and a pleasure to know Steve Helmick. He, and his sweet smile, will be truly missed. Steve combined a profound kindness with a wicked sense of humor and a philosophical bent - a unique combination, indeed. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. Janice Larkin

Growing up having two big brothers was a priviledge. You had someone to watch over you when the parents couldn't and it was always more fun! The unexpected and really wonderful thing was the funny, cool, and often quirky way Steve looked at life. He taught us ALL so much. With his smile and his outlook he changed us all. Thank you Steve for being the special man and wonderful brother you were! I live with you inside of my heart always!
