Scott is such an indelible presence in my high school memories. Those years would not have been nearly as colorful had Scott not been part of them. Specific memories include watching (from the ground) Scott running the ball into the end zone for four years; trying to keep a straight face after one of his "outta-nowhere ad-libs" during a theater performance of Oklahoma!; his dreadful Chicago accent in "Guys and Dolls"; his singing extra loud and off-key in the...

I join with my other fellow St. John's alums in expressing grief and sadness of the untimely passing of our friend, Scott. He was a constant source of inspiration and encouragement, to those who excelled and to those who struggled. His infectious laugh would enlighten everyone. His determination for excellence was contageous. His Spirit will live in all of us who had the opportunity to call him "my friend".

With Scott's other far-flung friends, I send our heartfelt prayers to all of his loved ones.
Scott was a very special guy -- a joyful and energetic spirit who, no matter how accompllished he was, never forgot those of us who were more timid, or less skilled, in a sport. He always had an encouraging word and a hearty smile. I'm not surprised that he became such a beloved coach to so many young people over the years.
The world is a poorer place for his passing, and a richer place...

Scott was a dear friend in high school -- I caught my first (and only) touchdown pass from him against Kinkaid, and I remember his great acting in the play "Man of La Mancha" with me. What a nice, nice guy. I saw him a few years ago, and it was like no time had passed since we had last spoke. I have nothing but the fondest memories of Scott. My sincerest sympathies extend to his family and to all those others who loved him.

I remember Scott's laugh as if the next moment there would be trouble. He definitely had an impish quality to him. He also had character. I had not seen him in very many years but those who knew him won't forget him. My very best to his family and friends.

I was so incredibly sad to learn today of Scott's passing. Even though our paths have not crossed in many years, I have thought of him often because his friendship has been and always will be one of my most cherished memories of my senior year at St. John's. Please know that your family is very much in our thoughts and prayers.

I knew Scott at St. John's, both through the Johnnycake musicals (ah, Guys and Dolls!) and through the group gatherings -- usually at the Smiths' house. In fact, Marylyn McCulloch Douthit and I were talking and reminiscing about him just last weekend in Houston at our SJS Reunion over Kinkaid weekend. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

My children played on the St.John's football team with Scott and I remember him with great affection. I am saddened by his loss.
