Not sure what to say?

Steve Howells. What´s in that name? Kind (was he ever), Considerate (not enough like him), Outgoing (he certainly was), Passionate (about many things), Thoughtful (about EVERYBODY), Interested (in YOU), Engaged (focused on things that mattered), Caring Genuine), Sympathetic (relatable), Listens (two ears, one mouth), High fiver (many times over), Mindful (boy, he had a strong one), Infectious smile (not many better), Leader (in more ways than one). Now you see there. One of God´s creations...

Our deep sympathies to the Howells family. May God's peace be with you all. Steve was such a friendly, encouraging presence as crossing guard at our school and will be dearly missed. My son wrote these words that he wanted to share: "Thank you Mr Steve for walking so many kids across the street every day. Thank you for all your greetings. For example your high fives and good mornings. Thank you for all your treats and encouraging words. I am going to miss Mr Steve being our crossing guard."

My sympathies, Ellen to you and your family. I don´t remember a time of seeing Steve without a smile on his face. Sending prayers for comfort and peace.

Our condolences to your family. Our son Amos appreciated Steve in his role as a crossing guard at Grand Rapids Christian Elementary school, always giving a high five and a greeting. Our latest interaction involved discussion of young boys wanting to wear shorts in the cold weather! It was a nice conversation that we will remember fondly. Our love sent your way with prayers of peace. The Rottman Family

Such a loss. Our sympathies to each of the Howell family members. Steve was a good friend and we enjoyed being in business with him at The Lantern Book and Bible in Battle Creek. We traveled to many conventions and met authors and musicians during our retail years in Battle Creek and Lansing. Northland Baptist in Grand Rapids was our church home as we both lived in Grand Rapids. We do not know the future but as we follow Him He will provide all the answers. Arlene you and Steve raised three...

We had the pleasure of getting to know Steve as he welcomed us each morning when helping us safely cross the street to school. His high fives will be dearly missed. If he ever had a bad day, you'd never know it by the way he cheerfully greeted us and his positive attitude. You could tell he genuinely loved the kids. Rest in peace, Mr. Steve, you are already missed.

I'm going to miss Steve's friendship and support of our whole family. He always had a hug and a smile whenever we saw him. We first met him 23 years ago when he was Alex's Sunday school teacher. I enjoyed singing in choir with him. We looked forward to seeing him at volleyball competitions for both Alex and Annaliese. He gave pointers for their performance as well as a big smile and hug at the end of the game. He even got Alex involved in refereeing volleyball (until she moved to...

My sympathies to you and your family Ellen! Steve was a kind and good man. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

May God bless the family in this time of sorrow. With my deepest sympathy
