Not sure what to say?

My favorite teacher. Rest in peace.

Mr. Kafkas, you were my 5th grade teacher. You had such a big impact on my life. God bless you, rest in peace

I was on ATW Siberia ‘95 with Stephen and was always touched by his gracious food humor. I knew he was sick but lost touch with him after a bit. My deepest sympathies to his family, he was such a kind man!

Mr. Kafkas taught both of my girls in 5th grade at Norton Creek. He was a kind teacher and they both liked him. I followed his blog and just found out today that he passed. It broke my heart to read of the tremendous struggles he had but he handled them with incredible grace. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Our deepest sympathies to Liz, Phillip, Daniel, Lillian, Oliver, and their extended family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you prayers for strength as you find your way through each day.

Mr. Kafkas,
You were apart of my son's transformative growth in school. Thank you for inspiring him to be the best he can be!

Pastor Mark,Bev and family,
So sad to hear of Steven’s passing. Thankfully, we know where he is and that you will be united with him in heaven.
Offering prayers for you and your family
as you deal with his loss. May the many joys you shared as a family help to lighten
your load.
Your Sister in Christ,
Carole Hadlock

While I never knew this amazing man, I do know his Mom, Bev. She was my best friend in high school. Bev, I want you to know how deeply sorrowful I am to hear of this news. Losing your child is the most painful kind of loss imaginable. You can't even begin to describe it to anyone. I know this because I lost my beautiful daughter to cancer just 5 years ago. God will see you through. Sending you and your family lots of love and hugs.
