Not sure what to say?

Colleen, There is so much to say, but words aren't enough. I'm thankful that he's been such a good friend for so long. Tennis may have been our first connection, dating back to the Jaffrey "novice" singles and family tennis at the red clay "Bean" court, but has led to you and his other family members and friends. I pray for God's healing peace for all of us.

My sister Amy sent me this awful news. I wish strength and support for your family during this difficult time and will keep you in my thoughts.
I have many happy memories from my childhood of Steve and Colleen next door with toddling twins and baby Allison. May the happy memories predominate for all of you as the days go by.

My husband, Howell Palmer and I, have had the privilege of working with Steve (along with his devoted sister Caroline) in the course of our work with The Park Theatre. We grieve his death and will remember with fondness his humor, intelligence, dedication, leadership, and, perhaps best of all, his fresh fruit salad that he generously brought to breakfast meetings to be enjoyed by all. Our sincere condolences to his wife and children, and most especially, to Caroline and Clay Hollister.

Please accept our deepest sympathies.

Our deepest condolences on your loss.
May God's grace strengthen you all as you go through this difficult time.
May your memories bring you comfort.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

There was something special about Steve that made him a friend of all at St. Paul’s School. I will forever cherish the memories of his warm, playful nature that made him such a good friend to me. My deepest sympathies go out to his family.

Steve and I graduated from St Paul's together in 1972. He was truly one of the nicest guys on campus. Everyone liked Steve.

Several years after graduation, I ran into Steve in Washington DC. I went to Congressman Cleveland's office to urge support for an employment non-discrimination bill that would have extended federal protections to lesbian and gay employees. Steve was the aide that met with me to hear my concerns.

In what was an awkward moment for me (I had "come...
