LAZA, Stephen (Steve) - Of Grand Blanc, age 74, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Grand Blanc. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday and 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Vigil Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Laza will be at the church 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass. Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association. Mr. Laza was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 20, 1937, the son of the late Fred and Lelah (Novak) Laza and resided most of his life in the Flint area. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He attended MSU and received his Bachelor's of Art in Accounting and MBA in Finance. On November 9, 1963, he married Joan Prystajko. Mr. Laza was employed for 23 years by GM Institute; worked at Ford Motor Company and Buick. Surviving are brother, Robert W. (Karen) Laza; brothers-in-law, Robert (Lula Jean) Prystajko and Bill Snow; sister-in-law, Dorothy Gilbert; nieces and nephews, Jammi Martin, Shannon Daniel, Mistie Laza-Sifuentes, Brandon Laza, Karen Roles, Vicky Newsome, Scott Prystajko, Lori Prystajko, Nick Prystajko, Mike Prystajko, Sharon Newman and Leslie Ramsbotham; 33 great nieces and nephews; aunts, Agnes Backa and Rose Gillian; uncle, Frank Novak. Steve & Joann were neighbors on Spinning Wheel and watched our kids grow up. Steve was always teasing and had special nicknames for them. We were so fortunate to have them right next door! We were blessed to have known them and express sincere condolences. Jan & Gary Forrest
