Floyd Mortuary and Crematory Inc. - Lumberton Obituary

Stephen Jerry Little, age 82 of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by his devoted wife of 56 years and their two daughters. He was born on May 16, 1942, to the late Stephen Badger and Aileen Reeves Little.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda and daughters Hope Little and Joy Gordon (Jeff). His grandchildren, Jade and Jonah Gordon, will forever cherish the fun memories they shared with their Granddaddy.

Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Jacky Little (Kay) and Dennis Little (Linda), and his nieces and nephews, Deryl Little (Glenda, Lexie, and Logan) and Crystal Allen (Chuck, CJ, and Caroline).

From a young age, Jerry’s deep love for his country was evident. He demonstrated his patriotism by enlisting in the United States Navy, serving honorably for four years. During his service, he held the prestigious rank of plank owner of the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear aircraft carrier, contributing to the ship’s legacy from its inception. Afterwards, he made a career working at Gene’s Electric (AMECO) where he proudly earned his unlimited electrical contracting license and became manager of the electrical department.

Jerry’s love for the Lord and his family was evident in every aspect of his life. As an involved member of Lumberton First Pentecostal Holiness Church, he held many positions. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and was a member of the Building Committee (1979). He was recently honored as the 2024 Man of the Year by the Men’s Ministry. His faith was a testament to his devotion, leaving a legacy of love that continues to inspire all who knew him. Jerry will be remembered for his overwhelming and contagious laughter. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Jerry's passing has created an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and lives he’s touched. We invite you to honor his memory by celebrating the way he lived and acknowledging the profound impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Lumberton First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 812 East 5th St., Lumberton, NC. A celebration of life will follow immediately. There will be a private burial.

I am so sorry for his loss and pray God will send peace and understanding to the family.i.will carry.his memory the rest of my years.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Little and his wonderful wife at the VA. They were an absolute delight to be around and I enjoyed when him and his wife would come to the clinic. He always had such a huge smile on his face and I so enjoyed our time together and thankful for the opportunity to meet him and his wife. My condolences to the family.

Jerry was a sweet man who always treated my family well. Many prayers to Linda and the rest of the Little family.

Sorry for the loss of your loved one.

Linda and family.
So sorry for your loss. May God comfort your hearts as only he can. I have known you Linda a very long time and you are a very special lady. I know he will be missed very much by you and the girls and all the friends. God"s Grace is sufficient. Love you

Ms. Linda, Joy & Hope, as I scrolled thru pictures of Mr. Jerry and his family all I could see was love. Mr. Jerry loved his family dearly and his sense of human to laugh was infectious. I can’t imagine your pain but it’s something we all will face in life. Mr. Jerry will continue to laugh in heaven with a new body without sickness. May God, wrap his arms around you all especially his grandchildren during this difficult time. Sending my deepest condolences, I had no idea of Mr. Jerry’s...

Linda, I am so sad to see that you lost your special person Jerry. I know that you and the girls will miss him so much. With love and sympathy, Wanda

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences for you and your family.

My deepest condolences to the Little family. Jerry was the funniest kid in Junior High and High School. When you told a funny story he would tell one funnier. His message in my high school year book stated he was going to join the Navy and see the world, he also mentioned other things he was going to accomplish. I wish I could have socialized more with him thru the years, but I’ll always have his laughter.
