Stephen Mark Long

Stephen Mark Long, 61, passed away on October 27, 2015 at Etowah Landing in Rome, GA after battling a long illness. Born November 23, 1954 in Austell, GA, he was the son of Doris Heath (Harmon) Long and the late Walter Marshall Long. Mark, as he preferred to be called grew up in Douglasville,GA, graduated from Douglas Co. High School in 1974. After high school he joined the United States Army. Mark married Katie Gallagher Long on November 23, 2002 in Hollywood, FL. They were happily married for almost 13 years. Mark enjoyed listening to music, riding on motorcycles, watching football, going for a ride and see where it took him, and going to flea markets. He never knew a stranger and loved to meet new people and learn about their lives. Mark is survived by his loving spouse Katie Long of Malden, MA and Cedartown, GA; his mother, Doris Long of Franklin, GA; his children, Dreama Long, Stevie Long, and Nicholas (Dana) Long; his grandchildren, Katie and Kayla Murray, Walker and Tyler Hampton, and Jazmine Culberth; his sister, Robin (Steve) Pendergraft of Waco, GA; his brother, Morris (Leigh) Long of Franklin, GA; Maureen and Charles Scheuch of Johns Creek, GA; Eugene Gallagher Jr. of Danvers, MA; his in-laws, Eugene James and Margaret Mary (Maher) Gallagher of Malden, MA; 10 nieces; 3 nephews; numerous great nieces and great nephews, as well as cousins, numerous Gallagher relatives and other relatives. Mark was preceded in death by his father Walter Marshall Long I, his brother Walter Marshall Long II, and his daughter Heidi Long. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 22, 2015 from 2 - 5:30 p.m. at The Depot at Richardson Field, 180 W. Elm Street, Rockmart, GA 30153.  Everyone is invited and welcomed to share in celebrating Mark’s life.
