Not sure what to say?

I cherish the times we spent together: Bagels and the Sunday Washington Post, Wine and cheese picnics in the Gardens at Dumbarton Oaks, listening to All Things Considered on cold winter days in front of a warm fire, and sitting through our advanced Portuguese classes at GU and passing notes! Rest in peace Steve, you were loved.

Coach - You are loved and missed. Thank you for caring and bringing out the best in all of your students. I think about you all the time. Thank you. Merry Christmas.

I was a patient of Steve in 2017. I had OCD and was struggling with my emotions and school. Steve made me calm with his friendly demeanor, comfy office, and generosity to hand out tasty food. Every time I was worried what I would say would make him cringe he would listen with his contagious smile on his face. He was rare because he knew how to act with people who were feeling small and insignificant like myself. I left always feeling 10 times better about myself. Steve was always always...

I found out about Mr. Maczynski's passing this month when I got back from college wanting to text him so I can stop by and say hi because we can finally see people again. He has been a big support to my sister and me (and honestly my whole family). He has been there as a great college counselor at Stone Ridge and a private college counselor. He also helped my sister transfer colleges while she was going through health problems and was a great friend and confidante to me and my family. He...

Great teacher, he earned my respect, and admiration, and inspired me to learn... every single class. Wish there were more like him.

Steve Maczynski was an amazing person! I just found out today about his passing and I am at a loss for words. He was a counselor to my two sons. We were going through a very difficult time, and Steve supported them for many years. He was a positive influence in their lives that is with them today. My sons are both adults now and to this day they remember how empathetic he was. He would even take time outside of his work schedule to support us. He was such a giving person and we are...

When I think of high school, I think of Steve - my buddy, my favorite dance partner, my date to my first formal dance, my arch rival once college took him to DC and me to Villanova, my confidante, my dear, dear friend. I always thought we would meet again over coffee and the conversation would pick up right where we left it in the early eighties but it was not meant to be. My heartfelt condolences are offered to Steve's husband, father, and brothers. He was a treasure!

Just learned of Steve's passing today. I find this to be tragic. While we had been out of touch for a few years, he was an incredibly influential figure in my teenage years and helped me get through some serious times of pain and uncertainty. While always incredibly intelligent and overtly passionate about his work, I never knew the scope of his accomplishments outside of my time working with him. I wish his husband and the rest of his family and loved ones the best. A true loss.

Mr. Maczynski was my government teacher at Georgetown Prep 26 years ago. He was a great teacher and I loved going to his class. I can still remember how excited he got talking about government. He was well respected and he will be missed!
