Not sure what to say?

Steve Mahan was my friend.
His wit, creative mind, biting humor and irreverent reverence gave me a more full understanding of the love that Christ has for all his children, each and every one of them.
Steve and Robin extended me the grace of their home when I was very much alone. I was family. I knew it.
When my wife, Liz, came into my life, I was able to recognize what a treasure she was because I had watched Steve and Robin as they fell in love.
When we eloped they...

Dear Robin, Joshua and Gabriel,

We just found out about Pastor Steve's death yesterday--what a terrible shock. He was a wonderful boss and mentor to me when I worked at Our Redeemer (1992-96, during our seminary years), and Dwight and I both grieve his passing. Please know that you are all in our prayers. Your family affected our lives in such a positive way during our time in St. Paul. We think of you so fondly and are truly sorry for your loss.

God bless you,
Kelly,...

Robin - we have been thinking and praying for you and the boys. I remember those first years at Our Redeemer and how his love for the Lord and "his Robby" was so evident. About 10 years ago you came over and Steve blessed us and our new home. We indeed have are very blessed and feel so fortunate to have known you all. What handsome young men Josh and Gabe have become.

Dear Robin, Josh and Gabe,

I am so terribly sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I just found out about 1/2 hour ago from a friend I work with. We were out of town at the time Steve passed.

I can't express how sad we feel for all of you. Steve was a wonderful man.

I have thought about all of you many, many times and often thought about contacting you but was unsure if you wanted to hear from any of us after Katie and Josh split.

Robin, I hope some day we can get...

Wow, it is hard for me to believe Steve is really gone. Steve was a great friend who could dish back more teasing than I could give out! He had such a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. We shared many a laugh together, usually at each other expense! Steve you will be missed. You helped me to laugh at a time in my life when laughter was all I had left. Robin, Josh and Gabe, my thoughts are will be with you...

Dear Robin, Josh, and Gabe, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Steve was so kind and welcoming to us through the years. You know how special he is and has been to so many. His legacy is in you and all those he has helped along the way.

A truly great friend, Pastor and theologian. He had a unique sense of humor and his depth and clarity of thinking was phenomenal. I was blessed to be his classmate at Luther Seminary and co-worker at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Our families spent many delightful hours together. He loved Jesus and had a passion for the Ministry of the Gospel. He was not fooled by the ploys of the culture and was an articulate and passionate servant of God. I wish for Robbie, Josh, Gabe and Steve's family all...
