Stephen L. Massad, Sr.
EAST LYME - Stephen L. Massad, Sr., 64, of East Lyme, CT and Orlando, FL passed away unexpectedly on Monday November 19, 2018 in Orlando, FL following a brief illness.
Stephen was born in New London, CT on Aug 4, 1954, the son of the Louis F and Gloria P Massad, both of whom predeceased him. He was a 1972 graduate of St. Bernard High School, and earned his B.S. in Business in 1976 from Providence College.
Stephen was President of Massad Insurance in New London, Amity Insurance in Old Saybrook, Holmes Insurance in Uncasville, and Stula Insurance in Colchester. He began his career with his Dad, on the real estate side of the business (Massad Agency), named a Realtor of the Year, and eventually focused solely on insurance. He was also active in local politics, serving as a City Councilor in New London from 1977 – 1981. He will be remembered by family and friends as a great resource, always willing to lend a hand - anything, anytime.
Stephen is survived by his son, Stephen L. Massad II and his wife, Jennie, and their children, Amelia and Cooper of Shelton, CT, grandchildren who always brought him happiness; his partner of 17 years, Bolivar I. Gonzalez; his sister, Andrea M. Hall and her children, Brandon and Marissa; his brother, Gregory P. Massad and his wife, Kristin, and their children, Alexa, Erica, Matthew, Olivia and Sophia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his brother, Thomas J. Massad.
To honor Stephen’s wishes, there were no services. The family thanks Byles Memorial Home, New London, for coordinating and handling the arrangements.
