Mr. Stephen L. "Steve" Massey Sr.

Mr. Stephen L. "Steve" Massey, Sr., 55, of Tybee Island, and formerly of Worth County, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Paulk's Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Shane Douglas will officiate. Steve was born in Moultrie on May 30, 1960 to the late Burnice Lee and Doris Lougenia Allman Massey, Jr. He had lived in Sylvester for many years before moving to Tybee Island 8 years ago. Steve worked as a truck driver with California Cartage Company. He was a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket fan and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Margie Newell Massey of Tybee Island; children, Stephen L. Massey, Jr. of Columbus, Leslie Brooks of Tybee Island and Shanna DeFoor (Cody) of Ellijay; a brother, Eugene Massey (Juanita) of Sylvester; a sister, Sandra M. Grimsley (Jerry) of Worth County and a sister-in-law, Sheryl Massey of Marietta. In addition to his parents, Mr. Massey was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Massey on July 17, 2000 and 3 grandchildren.
