I am so sorry to read this. In reading about the Ventura fires today, I was trying to find out if Steve's home was in the path and during my search, I came across this obituary.

I worked with Steve for four years (when I lived in WA) - mostly by phone, but he and I had breakfast in Ventura when I was in California on a trip. I always enjoyed him, admired him, and laughed with him. May he rest in peace and may our spirits cross again.

Today is your birthday. How can it be that you are not here to celebrate. You were my brother, confidant, source of humor and best friend. We were supposed to grow old together, forever loving and supporting each other. I miss you.

Although we won't be there physically for Steve's celebration of life, we will be there in spirit, thoughts and prayers! Steve was one of Mom's most supportive relatives. To see her face light up when Steve made the trips to Indianapolis says it all. Please remember you have relatives who will always have an open door should you find yourselves in the Midwest and we will do the same when journeying to the west coast. Our love and prayers...
