Stephen J. Mistretta, Jr., 76, passed away on November 28, 2018. Beloved son of the late Stefano and Vita Lucido Mistretta. Father of Christina Benfield (Pat), Vieta Hicks (Tim), Stephanie Hymel (Henry), and Nicole Carson. Grandfather of Jillian Benfield, Aaron Benfield, Peyton Hicks, Timothy Hicks, Courtney Montalbano, Victoria Hymel, Bailey Hymel, Gianna Mackey, and Henry Mackey, Jr. Great-grandfather of Carson Montalbano and Cooper Montalbano. Brother of Mary Dandry, Christine Lewis, Salvadore Mistretta, Kelly Mistretta. Brother of the late Frank Mistretta, Anthony Mistretta, Rita Lashouto, Josephine Lucido, Emile Mistretta, Joseph Mistretta, Salvadore Armato, Catherine Calamari, and Mary Mistretta. In addition, numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was employed by Georgia Carpet Outlet and Jim Owens Carpet. He was an avid cooker and enjoyed going to the New Orleans Fairgrounds. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and a graveside service will follow the funeral service at St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans.
