Stephen Prescott Nelson

I had the pleasure of knowing Steve at the tail end of his life. Although he was ill he taught me so much about love and life. I'll always hold him dear to my hear and cherish many wonderful memories - concerts, dinners, a trip to Seattle/Puget Sound, parties at my house, events with his family and mine. Mostly I'll remember the love we had and how rare and special it was.

When I first met Steve selling furniture to him, he told me that he had a duplex for rent in Ladd's Addition. I told him and his children, Austin and Jake that I would like to live in that neighborhood. He told me I was welcome there and the rent was agreeable. I asked if I could have dogs, as we had 2. He said no, and the children asked what kind of dogs and I told them ''pugs'' knowing that no one could resist pugs, and the kids begged Steve to let us live there as they loved pugs. (Who can...

Steve graciously let us be his tenants, he became our beloved friend. We came to know and love his children, watching them grow up to become exceptional young adults. We greatly enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. When we moved out, we happily remained friends, sharing food, holidays and our Pug's hyperactive "cousin" Lucy. We will never forget him.
