NEW HAVEN — Stephen Ray Roach, 60, of New Haven, passed away January 31, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness.

He was born September 23, 1957, in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late Lester Ray Roach and Thelma May (Gill) Roach of New Haven.

He was a graduate of Wahama High School. He was a former coal miner with 17 years of service and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was currently employed with Felman Corporation, New Haven and a member of the United Steelworkers Union #5171, Hartford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his son, Stephen Ray Roach II (Amber) of Mason; daughter, Shareen Lee Smith (Ian) of Letart; sisters, Patricia Hiles (Bernard) of Zanesville, Kelly Lily (David) of Hartford; grandchildren, Carson, Blake and Paisley Roach, Maelin and Marit Smith.

Service will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, with Pastor Rob Grady officiating. Burial will follow in Zerkle Cemetery, Letart. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Arrangements provided by Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason.
