Stephen Anthony Rosenberger entered eternal life on January 28, 2021, in the loving arms of his wife, Deborah Lambert Rosenberger, peacefully in his home. He was a long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. Special stepdad to Clement (C.J.) Gauthe III (Amy) and proud Paw Paw to Jack and Owen. He was dearly loved by a large family - his devoted mother, Anne Johnston Rosenberger and his late father, Lyman (Sonny) Addison Rosenberger Jr. He had a special bond with his brothers and sisters, Rebecca (Becky) Stadler, David Rosenberger (Denise), Deborah LaBorde (T.J.) and Douglas Rosenberger (Rose) and his Uncle, Daryl Johnston. He also gained a caring sister-in-law upon marriage, Barbara Lambert Knight (Marshall). Steve was practically born into the trade of carpentry with his family's third generation construction business, Addison Builders. He started worked at an early age after school and on weekends with his grandfather, Lyman Sr. (Cap), his dad, Sonny, uncle Bobby and uncle Edgar along with uncle Daryl and his brothers David and Doug. They built many homes and businesses throughout New Orleans and many in St. Bernard. Eventually Steve moved in commercial construction and worked for over 28 years with Delta Contractors as a superintendent and then Base Contractors. Besides his family, one of his loves was deer hunting in Natchez, MS and El Dorado, AR with his family and fellow hunting club members, he even bagged two bucks on one amazing morning hunt. His wife eventually caught the bug and joined him, often walking into the dark on still quiet mornings side by side which she thought was actually romantic (except for the time when returning from an evening hunt where Steve forgot his flashlight and the now unhappy (but trusting) wife had to crawl on hands and knees alongside him trying to find a foot bridge to cross over a creek in the darkness – he rarely carried a flashlight!). He also loved his custom choppers, hence the nickname Chopper Steve, riding with his best buddies, Calvin and Alvin Seiner as well as forging new and life-long friendships. There are too many stories and memories about some of those biking adventures, so we will celebrate them later. Lastly, unbeknownst to many, he was an unofficial football coach for the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, making calls and chastising referee officials directly from the comfort of his sofa. But let us not forget about his real true love – if you were guessing wife, you would be mistaken. The spouses both agreed and hoped they would never have to choose between each other and their precious dogs – Labrador retrievers in the early years of marriage and then their many Golden Retrievers that truly owned his heart. He would always tell his last golden, Buddy, "You're my best friend". Buddy unfortunately passed just a few months before Steve, maybe saving him a seat alongside him. Special thanks and deepest gratitude to our incredibly special neighbors and dearest friends who supported us during the last few months, too many to name here. Heartfelt thanks for the S.O.W.W.E girls' group to responding to every need and phone call for both Deb and Steve. Deepest gratitude to Hospice Specialists of Louisiana staff and our angel nurses, Jennifer and Jamie, during the last month going beyond their profession to make us feel like family and yes, even laugh. Please note: Steve really did not like wearing a suit (although surprisingly he was a little bit of a traditionalist under that biker gear) but we're asking everyone to come celebrate a life well lived and wear your favorite sports shirt (no Alabama please!), camouflage or biker threads. Ladies feel free to wear your favorite color too. As it is written, grief will be turned into joy. "Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy." John 16:20. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Trevor Truitt of Celebration Church. A repast will follow the service at Steve's special place – his home. Let us share our stories and laughs, and of course, some tears. To sign and view the family guestbook, please visit
