Dr. Schachner just crossed my mind and I thought I would see if there was any current information out there and was so sad to see he had passed away almost 2 years ago - I wrote that he was a friend, but he was my doctor for many many years and we had a friendly relationship. I trusted him and strangely, looked forward to seeing him when I had an appointment. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing and will always remember my long time doctor, fondly. My heart goes out to his family.

I read an article today in the NYT about Creighton and recalled that my friend from high school, Stephen, went to that school and Googled him. At this age one always does that with some trepidation. And, there it was. Very sorry. Although I had not spoken to Stephen (or many others) since we graduated in 1955, I have thought of him often. He was a very bright person, and I always considered exceedingly kind and caring. I knew he was going to be a doctor and I am sure he was a great one. We...

I remember Stephen from Lincoln High. Always friendly and a pleasure to know and chat with.

I met Dr. Schachner when I was 14, a patient at DeWitt Army Hospital. I heard him before I saw him. He was coming down the hall, loudly singing "I'm crazy with looove for you!" He would be my doctor for several hospitalizations and I came to trust him. When I returned from Germany, where my family was later stationed, he had started his practice and again became my doctor. I am so sorry to hear your Dad passed away. I was out of the country and did not find out about the sad news until a week after I returned. Your Mom & Dad were very special friends since approx.1964 when we ere all stationed at Ft. Belvoir. Your Dad, Harvey & I all grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. My heart goes out to the entire family.
