Gick and family, I just found out about Stephen's death. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a tremendous teacher in my life and a huge influence. I have always been grateful for all he did for me at Mundelein.

Dr. Schmidt both baptized me and performed my wedding ceremony nearly 23 years later. He sang to my grandma in her final hours, giving her comfort. Our deepest sympathies to the Schmidt family (who we will always think of as family) at the loss of such an amazing man, who was way ahead of his time.

I am truly saddened by Stephen's passing. He was a marvelous professor who helped shaped my theology. Prayers and blessings to his family.
