Not sure what to say?

Mr. Schmidt came to Maria Regina School in Gardena in 1968 and started a drum and bugle corp. Every boy in school showed up for the tryouts. I was fortunate to get picked for the ensemble. We performed at Knott's Berry Farm once and got to stay and play. I took lessons at his home studio, in back of his parents' house. He had the same Ludwig drum kit as Ringo Starr. He was an excellent drummer, too. We marched a lot; it was tiring and fun. I think because of Steve, many boys at my school who...

I’m sorry to hear of Mr.Schmitt’s passing. He was my history teacher from 1991-1993. He was very passionate about teaching American history, and because of his passion, I also developed a deep interest in American history as well. Looking back I wish I would’ve joined his fife and drum corp. There are two teachers in my life that really stand out, and he’s one of them. Rest In Peace Mr.Schmitt.

Under Steve I learned confidence, esteem and a skill set that I carry with me still today. I was very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. We had spoken a few years back and I had looked forward to shaking his hand again as an adult. I wish him God Speed and a...

Mr. Schmitt there are no words to express how awesome you were as a teacher. Im saddened that you have departed, but at the same time happy that you are enjoying heaven and the presence of our Lord. God bless you ❤
