I worked with Steve early in our careers at Arthur Andersen and Co in downtown Portland -he was very professional and always calm and cool and collected -we were invited to their home for dinner and I will never forget that Diane and Steve allowed their two young children to use marking pens to write on one wall in one bedroom -awesome Parents !

I would have loved to have visited with Steve through our adulthood. I know the conversation would have been intellectual as he was so smart as a child. So sorry for your loss.

Steve was a true gentleman, a wonderful and caring husband, and a fantastic father. He will be greatly missed. You, Steve, and your family have been on my mind so much these last few days. Diane, please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or your family.

Once, long ago, I had the opportunity to stay in the home of Stephen Smith for a few nights. I was a friend of his daughter Christy, and while I was doing some research in Oregon, he and Diane graciously allowed me to stay for a few days.
