Stephen Smoot

I was just speaking to a friend of mine in DC about your dad, grandfather, friend. We we speaking of transformational events in our life's. Steve Smooth, my Bishop was a central figure. I love Steve and Marilyn. Looking forward to a continuing relationship with my loved ones. What a legacy.

I was just yesterday thinking of Steve, I am once again serving with young adults and I was thinking of the blessing that Steve and Marilyn have and continue to be in my life and the lives of my loved ones.

Although a distant cousin, I most frequently ran into Steve in an unlikely place: Loeb's Perfect New York Deli in Washington, DC. I was saddened to learn of his passing while my family and I were visiting our summer home last week, because I wanted to tell him that Loeb's recently reopened at a new location on I Street NW between 17th and 18th Streets, more convenient to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (which I imagine Steve knew well). Uncle Steve will be remembered as a real gentleman. He was so kind, and always genuinely interested in all his nieces and nephews and their families.We loved the get togethers at the Ranch and the cabin. What a legacy of goodness the has left! I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I grew up with the Smoot family and thought every one of them was an exceptional person. Steve was so kind to me and made me feel welcome and important. What a wonderful man. My condolences to you all.

Dear family of Stephen Smoot, I offer my condolences to you and feel bad about not getting to you in person. Someone has to be with Joan full time and at the times mentioned for viewings that soemone is me.
