Not sure what to say?

Steve was a good friend, a proud Bay Villager and a talented writer and editor. I was so sorry to learn of his passing. We worked together on Plain Dealer business pages, talked about our kids and their educations and shared a love for the natural surroundings on the Lake Erie shore. Once, we paddled kayaks from Bradstreet Landing together. I could also count on seeing him at the Bay Village Memorial Day Parade every year that I went, surely a reflection of his his military upbringing,...

Steve would often walk by my desk at the Plain Dealer, say hi and we'd chat. Very nice person. Always pleasant. RIP. Steve. You did good.

Steve was a talented reporter and a very droll guy. After we took the buyout in 2006 I would run into him birding at Magee marsh or the Huron pier. Deepest sympathies to his family.

I am so sorry to hear about Steve, Kathryn and family. I will always remember Steve´s passion for journalism, his infectious smile, enthusiasm and humor, which brightened the PD newsroom each day. I hope that the memories you shared over the years will sustain you through your grief and heal moving forward.

My sympathy to Stephen's family and friends. I enjoyed working with Steve and know his memory will help you in the coming days and will sustain you in the future Diana McNees Daniels

I was devastated to hear of Steve's untimely death. I worked with him for decades at The Plain Dealer. Smart, funny, dedicated, a class act. My deepest sympathies to his wife, daughters and the rest of his family.

Thank you for your very brave service to our country ! God bless you
