Stephen C. Thomas was born to James (known as Earl) and Lucille (Lash) Thomas in Cleveland, Ohio on July 22, 1951.
Steve was the life of the party, and if an occasion was not intended to be a party, he would find a way to turn it into one! Always ready to make someone laugh and raise a toast (with blackberry brandy and beer), his personality was larger than life with a caring heart to match. Steve was a smart-dressed guy with a golden, mischievous smile and a quick wit. He loved nothing more than raising a ruckus and charming everyone he encountered. Steve married his beloved Peggy in the summer of 1982, whereupon he became the doting Dad to Hali. Later, he would be the most adored "Papa" to granddaughter Amie and her daughter, Irina.
A wonderful brother and uncle, he was always supportive and present for his dear siblings Kenny, Marilyn, and Dawn, as well as his nephew Christopher and niece Lucy. He could often be seen at Lucy’s volleyball games in full school colors, cheering away! Nephew Chris remembers his Uncle Steve taking him to see the original Star Wars “countless times” in theaters. Steve was a fun-loving extrovert with the gift of the gab, and all his loved ones remember his ability to strike up engaging conversations with any person he came across. Wherever he went, he always made a new friend!
Steve often reminisced about adventures in Alaska with his father Earl and brother Kenny—exploring, hunting, and fishing in the vast wilderness. In later years, he would go on to enjoy living in sunny Aiken, SC where his dearest Peggy now reigns. Steve was a devoted and loving husband who lived to bring happiness to his wife and to those around him, often transforming ordinary moments into special ones. An absolute treasure of a man, he will be missed by Mike Angus—his closest confidant and breakfast companion—as well as by his family and many friends.
Funeral Service Monday, February 26, at 4:00 PM. in the CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS where friends may call 2:00 PM. until time of service.

What a guy Steve was! Our Derby parties in Loisville will never be the same! Guess every where he went, he has very special friends and his many Louisville friends will miss his jokes, twinkly blue eyes and fun stories! He as a special person. Very kind and generous! Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending sympathy to Peggy and his beloved family.

Peggy, I am so sorry to hear about Steve. I have wonderful memories of our trip to Alaska and the parties leading up to that cruise. Steve was a very fun and really nice man. Sending you hugs. The more special our loved ones are the bigger the hole they leave. Margaret Ostergard

Our deepest condolences to Peggy. We will miss our dear friend Steve! We had such good times when we were all younger. From white water rafting, to our crazy Halloween parties. Our two sons had such a blast when Steve and Peggy would come on vacation with us. And when Steve and Peggy celebrated our son's coming home from Desert Storm, we couldn't stop laughing at Steve's jokes! We'll miss you and know that you're making friends in heaven.
