A standout leader amongst several many of us as students at Dimond came to know personally, respect, and benefit from observing them as examples of how to be and live. I watched many a basketball game at Anchorage High School- the Frito Lay men´s team including Earll, his brother Jay, Dr Day and Doc and Jerry Hepler and others. So many memories I am thankful for and fortunate to have.

I replaced Earle as head Basketball coach at Dimond in 1970. He was a gentleman always and very supportive of me in my first year at Dimond. We talked basketball daily and I always felt that he had my back, as they say. I taught along side him in the PE department for several years as well. I had the privilege to catch up with him in 2017 while visiting Anchorage for the State Basketball tourney. Our relationship was spotless. Alaska has lost a truly great mentor and coach.
