I had not known Sterling for many years but he definitely was the man that was described in the obituary above. God bless his family, he was a wonderful man.

Just saw this news. I was fortunate to work with Sterling over 40 years ago. We were at the WV Human Rights Commission. I can't recall the project but I do remember him. It doesn't surprise me that he continued to do good works throughout his life.

I am saddened to learn of the transition of a man for whom I have always had great respect. In the more than 40 years that I have known Sterling Smith, he was always a man of quiet strength, great dignity, and a gentle spirit. My prayers are for his family and all who loved him.
