I'm very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We were colleagues for a time at the LA Times many years ago. and I remember him as a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. My condolences to his family and many friends.

Steve Christensen walked into the UPI Bureau in Salt Lake City one day and convinced me to hire him as a reporter. I was skeptical at first because I had other applicants with longer resumes. But Steve had charm and talent and wouldn't take no for an answer. It proved to be one of the best hires I ever made as a UPI bureau chief.
