Not sure what to say?

My 80-year old mother lived across the street from Steve, Debbie, and Joel. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her especially when she lived by herself for a while. Steve was always upbeat, humorous, and ready to party. He was not one of those people that sat back during a problem or a crisis in the neighborhood. He got involved and tried to help from robberies in the neighborhood, car accidents on Little York, house fires, even rescuing pet birds from a tree. He loved to decorate...

I knew Steve from when i was a kid he was my dads friend.11 years ago i moved down the street from him and debbie she became one of my best friends and my oldest son ricky become joels friend, i am a single mother of 4 and steve really took an interest in my son ricky he said he was a natural in baseball just like he was.I had a lot of hard times but ricky always had a new pair of cleats and a baseball bat thanks to steve. He included him in everything they did as a family from running the...

When I think of Steve I keep going back to memories of Northside Little League baseball. We respected Steve and his talent and did not look foward to having to play against his team. When I saw Steve at Sam Houston early in our tenth grade year, I knew Sam Houston HS athletics at least had a chance. At the one High school reunion I was able to attend, Steve approached me and to my surprise, remembered not only myself but my brother Ralph, who was a pitcher. Steve was a team player. We all...

Steve will always have a special place in my heart. My memories of Steve bring tears and laughter. Tears only because of the great loss to family and friends. Laughter for all of the wonderful times we had in our younger days. Steve will be missed by all who knew and loved him. How blessed we all are, knowing what a special guardian angel we now have looking over us.

Steve and my brother, Craig, were good friends and team mates @ Fonville Jr. High. He was an incredible athlete and fierce competitor. I have heard so many exciting stories of great plays he would make on the football field and basketball court, that everyone watching would be in awe.
His greatest "play", however, was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was a teenager.
I pray that his family and friends will take comfort in knowing that there was great rejoicing...

I met Steve in 1986, and I remember it like it was yesterday. My mom and I were staying at a friend's house for the night, and Steve was there. We(Steve and I) were sent on a store run and from the moment I got into Clyde(that was what he called his car) I was very comfortable with him. He was so funny and just had me laughing like crazy.

Steve was the reason I got into sports and started playing them. He taught me how to play golf, and I was witness to his first ever hole-in-one...

Steve was one of those rare persons whom made you feel like you were his friend the first time you met him. I remember the first time I met Steve, we were 11 years old in Little League. I remember Steve was that one person that I could never strikeout. Through Junior High and High School Steve was always the star player and person. He would always make you laugh and make you feel like you were his friend for life. As I sit here and read all the wonderful stories about Steve and how many...

I remember the dancing - what a treat it was to have Steve as a partner on the dance floor. He called me Sis and I called him Brother...we shared and we listened during those good ol' days at Sam. Tonight at the visitation I saw so many Sam Houston friends. Some I knew and remembered well, some I knew and barely remembered and some I knew and did not recall at all.

During HS, there were all kinds of groups of special friends and most all intertwined. And I realized tonight that...

Steve Crocker was a Senior at Sam the year I arrived there as a Sophomore. I learned who he was the very first day of school because all of my athletic classmates who came over with me from Patrick Henry Jr. High were speaking his name in whispered awe...he was the hero of many and the mentor of the lucky. To this day, mention his name to some of the jocks from the class of '76 and everyone of them will tell a story of Steve's prowess on the diamond or field. Steve and I laughed about that...
