Not sure what to say?

I still think of Steve and his family, I hope that everyone is safe

I am so sorry to hear of Steve passing. I met him when I first signed with the Pirates Organization back in 1984. All I can say is he was one of the most kind and caring people I have ever met.

I met Steve in 1957 when I was a batboy for the Birmingham Barons. I loved kidding around with him. I am very sad to hear of his death.

We are very touched by the loss of our friend steve. He was very much a kind caring man. we were very lucky to have learned the many lessons he so graciously took the time to share. my thoughts and prayers to his entire family.we spent many great times on the baseball field. he was the ultimate profesional in every sense of the word. steves that one person who made you feel like lifes calm and yet gave every once of what he had. the pirate tradition the chrisma he cared like no person i ever...

As a child growing up in Syracuse, NY my family often took me and my sister to see the minor league Syracuse Chiefs. They were AAA, the next step towards the Majors, but a long step it is I know.

I remember a scrappy infielder for our Chiefs, Steve Demeter, perhaps more than any other player I saw there, and I saw plenty. He just struck me as someone who worked hard at his craft, hustled and gave the fans their monies worth and then some. A fond memory indeed.

My memories of; Steve is remembering him as my best friend Cathy's Dad. When Cathy and I were in Jr High at Shiloh, we would spend a lot of time hanging out at each other house. Having sleepover and eating home made brownies that Cathy's mom made. Steve would come and go always with a smile on his face, he was very proud of his children Cathy the cheerleader and little Stevie reading books. The Demeter's were my best second family growing up in Parma. Love you all Nancy *Lucci*

I am honored to have known Steve, he was more than a baseball man. He was a humble, honorable person that told great stories. It is also an honor to have gotten to know his family. Be strong and God Bless! Joe Jurevicius

I always remember Uncle Steve having a smile on his face. We had great times with him and Aunt JoAnne. We always appreciated the two of them taking care of my Mom And Dad. He will be missed. I bet he's in heaven talking baseball with my dad. my love to all of you

We always looked forward to seeing Steve when he came to our office. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Steve was a kind, humble, modest man and we will truly miss him.
