Not sure what to say?

My fondness remembrances and when I got the chance to really know Steve were the days he lived on Eastern Pkwy. Being neighbors for all those years was quite a treat. There was humor in everything he did. From listing his name in the phonebook as Godfred Daniels to wearing a wig to work so he wouldn't have to cut his hair. He is like a jewel with a sparkle that will never fade.

I never knew Steve but went to school with Donna. My sincere sympathy goes out to her and the entire family. Tonight when you look up, don't think of them as stars. Think of them as porch lights welcoming your loved one safely home. Sending you thoughts of peace during your time of sorrow.

I met Steve in the early 1970s when I was in high school at Assumption and he was in college. In those days, he wanted to be known as "Dude". I have very fond memories of riding around the Highlands with Steve, Joe Elmes, and Shelley Frederick Elmes.

Steve was really and truly an American Original, one of the most uniquely funny individuals whom I've ever met. His audio tapes, in which he was a DJ known as "Jay Smoker", were a riot!

Steve was the first person I ever...

Steve and I essentially grew up together. We were friends through our days at St. Raphael and graduated from Trinity High School together. We saw every James Bond movie as soon as it was released and went to our first concert together which was Iron Butterfly. I still remember the day he got his driver's license. There are a lot of other memories which are too numerous to mention but which will remain in my mind and heart. Though Steve and I had not seen each other for a number of years...

I met Steve through my husband, Joe Elmes. I thought he would be a famous D.J. He gave me tapes of his efforts that were hilarious. He also gave me very memorable rides to Lexington to visit Joe. He couldn't bear to pass up a hitchhiker which made the trip interesting to say the least. I haven't seen him much except at art fairs but I am sure he will be missed. He is certainly hard to forget. My condolences to his family. He was a great guy!

I wish to express my condolences to Steve Doane's family. I've known Steve since he first came to Huncilman's. I remember his humor and willingness to participate in doing something like performing a coronation for Max and Jennifer many years ago. It thrilled them very much. Most people wouldn't have performed a fairy tale scene like Steve did. Which made him unique. Your in a better place Steve, God Bless you and your family.

As most remember, Steve was a person with a lot of humor. But I'll always remember when he performed a coronation fantasy for King and Queen for when Max and Jennifer married years ago. It made their day. Most would have felt too silly to do something like this, let alone in our lunchroom in front of everyone else. But that was Steve, he knew it would mean a lot to them. That puts him in a rare club of individuals. My condolences to Steve's family and God Bless you all. Your in a better place...

Steve ran around with my brother Joe Elmes when they were about 16 or 17. He was my first crush, and one of the funniest people I've ever known. I feel like a little light has gone out of the world.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It has been a long time since we've seen Steve and Donna. I often remember Steve playing his foam guitar with a local band back in his bartending days.He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and kind heart.A true loss. Our deepest sympathy to Donna.
