We will miss Uncle Steve so much. He was so nice and fun to be around the nicest man you will ever meet he was definitely one of a kind. My only regret is not spending more time with him I was always so happy taking my son to basketball and seeing him working out. We are so sorry and sad for the whole Matz family and know they can get through this terrible loss of such a great man because they are just as neat and strong as he was. You will always be in my heart and thoughts. Love you so much...

I worked with Steve for 6 years at Kennecott, in all my years I have yet to find a better co-worker/leader. Thank You Steve.

Karen, Steve was a wonderful man and a wonderful friend. Please accept my condolence and take care of yourself. I still remember the day you and Steve drove up to my driveway regarding my new house. Steve was very kind and reminded me of a game I pitched and that was many years ago and he still remembered. A very wonderful man and a loss to this world,

Dear Karen and family and friends of Steve, My sincere love and sympathy goes out to you all. So many memories . We go back a long way as friends. He was a wonderful friend and the adventures of he and Monte will last forever. He will be missed but not forgotten. May you find peace in the days to come, He put up a valiant fight. My love to you all, Collette and Family

A great friend and mentor. My life was so much better knowing Steve.. A very courageous man dealing with his sicknesses. You will be missed

I was so sorry the see that Steve had passed away. I grew up with Steve in Garfield and we enjoyed many trips walking the pipeline to the Magna mills. He was so much fun to hang out with.

I have know Steve since grade school in Garfield, and when he moved to Magna, he was my neighbor. He was a good friend, and drove most of us neighbor kids to High School. They don't come any better than Steve, and he will be missed by friends and especially his family.
