Stephen "Chief" Olivarri was born on October 6, 1960 in Gary, Indiana. He was the 8th child of eleven.
Steve unexpectedly passed on March 8, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Celia "Sally" Holguin Moreno and Francisco B. Olivarri; sister, Aurora Olivarri; nephews Jack D. Walker and Austin Olivarri.
Leaves behind his loving family: children, Raquel (Jim) Kolacz and Stephen Sky (McKenna) Olivarri; grandchildren, Juliana, Jazmyn, Maverick and Jasper; siblings, Elizabeth (Mark) Malone, Frank (Dee) Olivarri, Rudolph Olivarri, Margaret (Joe) Dejanovic, Julie Olivarri Chitwood, Fred (Sara) Olivarri, Christine Olivarri, Theresa (Kent) Bogert and Paul Olivarri; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; Life Partner, Linda Dublo and her 6 children and 11 grandchildren.
Steve retired from the city of Lake Station. He most recently mentored prisoners in ministry, and he was devoted to his bible studies. His most precious joys were his weekend visits with his grandchildren.
He had a passion for wildlife and feeding the birds and squirrels.
So much can be told of his love for the Chicago Bears and playing the harmonica with various bands.
Steve was kindhearted and easy to forgive. He was always ready to lend a helping hand whether he knew you or not. His neighbors will surely miss him as he looked out for them and managed all the neighborhoods maintenance. Besides his charitable heart, he mastered the skill as a professional painter and drywaller.
His family is devastated by his loss and all who knew Steve. A BEAUTIFUL SOUL.
In Lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to his family to offset the recent unexpected expenses.
