Judith ND I WERE AT SHADOWCLIFF THIS MAY AND AGIAN IN JUNE WITH OUR FAMILY. WE NEVER VISIT SHADOWCLIFF WITHOUT FOND MEMORIES OF DAYS WORKING WITH STEVE ON SO MANY MAJOR BUILDING/RENOVATION PROJECTS FROM REMPEL STAIRS, RIVER BEND CABIN, REMPEL ROOF, REMPEL THIRDA FLOOR AND MANY MANY MORE. HE BROUGHT HIS GIFTS OF SKILL AND COMPANIONSHIP TO OUR VOLUNTEER TEAMS.

Shadowcliff Lodges early May volunteers intended to hold a special time of sharing stories of Steve sitting on the benches overlooking Grand Lake where we visited with Steve on so many occasions. COVID prevented any of us from finding places on those benches on the Shadowcliff Point this May, but in late June a small group of us were there to open our cabins for the short season, and memories of Steve and his significant impact on Shadowcliff were joyfully shared.

I'm deeply saddened by the news of Steve's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the Petrehn Family. I have many fond memories of Steve during our time with Tempest Technology.

I knew Steve from Shadowcliff and am sorry for your loss. Steve was a special person. He helped me a lot when JJ passed. I am deeply saddened.

I worked with Steve at ShadowCliff in Colorado. We shared many projects together: roofing, painting, framing, installing a staircase and he taught me how to use an angle iron! His intelligence and focus on details made him shine. His patient explanations of how things worked and his love of nature's mystique carved a sweet place in my heart. Oh to give him one more hug!

No May at Shadowcliff Lodge in Grand Lake, Colorado will ever be quite the same without Steve, but the stories of Steve, the sound of his laughter and the evidence of his many completed projects will stand as testimony to his commitment, passion and love of this mountain sanctuary where he volunteered for so many years.
