Living in the Moment
Any evening, Steve Pollicino, 48, might call his home in Long Island to say: "Get ready! I've got tickets to the Knicks!"

Or "The Producers." Or 'N Sync. In August, he announced that he was taking his wife, Jane, and his 12-year-old, Celeste, to the Bahamas -- in a couple of days. "Can you imagine planning a vacation a year in advance?" he once said incredulously.

A trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, he did not head for his easy chair after work. He might take Celeste to get an ice cream after her religion class or shoot pool with his 19-year- old son, Steven, during college holidays. He could turn a humdrum gathering into a party just by showing up. Once, on a summer morning, he headed for his usual 6:10 a.m. train, turned around at the last minute and spent the day at the beach with his wife and sister-in-law.

His big worry was Celeste. He could not bear to think of her leaving childhood, home and him. Four days before he died, he picked her up at a friend's and she emerged in giggles. "Promise me," he said, catching her mood, "that you'll never stop giggling."

Not sure what to say?

I was a good friend of Steve's in Hicksville High Class 1971. He was such a great guy. Gentle heart and kindness poured out of him. I pray for his lovely family for their great loss of a Dad and loving Husband. I keep you all in my heart forever. Many prayers to you all. May God keep you strong and filled with blessings for your life with Steve.

We will never forget Steve Pollicino our next door neighbor in Hicksville N.Y.

I think of this wonderful man and his family every day

Steven was a student in my Spanish class at POBJFKHS. I think of him and remember your family every 9-11 anniversary .

In Memory with
Honor & Respect

I went to HHS with Steve. We were in a band together and boy did we have fun. I just found out about Steve today and I am shocked and saddened. I also saw Steve again at the place he owned in St. James. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Steve was such a great guy, he will be missed by us all.

Dear Jane & Family,

How do I begin to express my deepest sympathy on the loss of Steve, such a wonderful, handsome guy who made such a great husband to a beautiful, loving girl, twenty-something years ago when I was a guest at your wedding.

We worked together at NYIT in Old Westbury. I can remember a bunch of us getting together at Sgt. Pepper's Pub, in Hicksville & then another night to Flagger's to continue the fun. It seemed like such a long drive out there at the...
