Not sure what to say?

I am extremely sorry for your loss. I never got to meet Steve in person however would talk with him at least once a month over the phone. He helped bring closure to my family and told us what happened to our cousin Karl in Vietnam. For that and his service I am forever in debt to him. Thank you Steve I'm sorry for never making it up to Elmira to see you.

My CFIG, Dave Welles, and Me

Sorry to hear of your passing brother. I say that because Steve and I worked at Schweizer Aircraft together for years and shared a lot of memories of our Vietnam experience. Your family can be very proud of your service to our country. I also have fond memories of Steve flying the tow plane when I was taking glider pilot lessons at Schweizer's. Till we meet again brother may God welcome you into his loving arms.

So sorry to hear that Steve has died. Hadn't seen him in years but we were close in high school at Notre Dame. He was a very sweet person and a lot of fun. Condolences to his whole family.

Josh & Matt,

I was close to your Dad when we were young men and I still lived in Elmira. I'm so sorry you lost him. Sorry too that your kids won't get to know this good man better.

I live in Utah, but I'd like to come back and take part in the memorial canoe ride on the river if that would be okay.

Please let me know as plans are firmed up. He was a special person in my life and I'd like to honor his memory.

Condolences and warm regards.

Chris and family , My sincere sympathy to you all . So many wonderful memories as neighbors. RIP Steve

Stevie was my childhood neighbor, my friend, and his death will leave a void in this world. He had a quiet humor, like his dad, and a gentleness like his mom. Rest in piece my friend, our memories survive us all.

A True war hero. One of the kindest people ever. A great neighbor would help in a minute. RIP Steve.

Josh and Matt, words cannot express our feelings at your loss. He was a great father and friend and will be missed. He was truly loved. So many memories of him going through our heads right now. He is safe now from all harm and watching over you.

I've only been Steve's neighbor for 7 years but he was a great neighbor and friend. He loved to come over and show my girls pictures of the bear and deer in his yard. They thought the bears were cool. He liked to sit on his deck and have a couple beers while sharing his knowledge of bow making, hunting, and local history. He talked a lot about his family especially his grandkids. Our thoughts go out to his family. He was a good man and will be sorely missed by my family. Rest in peace my...
