Steve Douglas “Doug” Proctor, 67, of Walton, died Sunday, February 16, 2025, at home, after an extended illness.


He was born March 10, 1957, at Charleston, the son of the late Edward Melvin and Florence Eloise Johnson Proctor.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Tonie Proctor and Susie Bush; grandchild, Branch Matthew Kizer.


Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Dianne Shafer Proctor of Walton; daughter, Diana “Lynn” (Dave) Marks of Spencer; son, Jason Douglas (Christina) Proctor of Sissonville; additional son, Jamie Rolfes, of Charleston; grandchildren, Kadee Kizer, Kara Kizer, Tiffany Proctor, Austin Proctor, Mason Proctor, Amaya Marks, Aaliyah Rolfes and Aubree Marks; step grandchildren, Braedan Stamper, Currin Woodruff and Calleigh Woodruff; great grandchildren, Ryker Copley, Benjamin Kizer, Rowen Copley, Nolan Hensley, Autumn Kizer, Luca Proctor and James Oldaker; brothers, Roger (Loretta) Proctor of Walton and Deon (Susie) Proctor of Gandeeville; sisters, Reba Shafer, Nancy (Lawrence) Looney, Faye (Robert) Looney all of Walton and Sandy (Clyde) Stricklin of Spencer; many nieces, nephews and friends.


Doug was a retired rig operator.


He loved spending time with family and friends.


A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Gary Ditoto officiating. Burial will be in the Canterbury-Droddy Cemetery, Walton.


Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
