Wise Funeral Home - Bonham Obituary

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel.

Father. Son. Brother. Handyman. Author. Manager. Mentor. Co-worker. Storyteller. Trivia master. Joker. Smoker. Drinker, and so much more. But above all else, Steve Standlee was a lover. If you didn't learn something from him then you weren't listening. Behind every aphorism or analogy was the intent to help. Every joke or jab out of a deep well of love. Earth is a little colder, and a lot less funny without him, but he left behind a legacy that will live far beyond a lifetime. His impact was incalculable. I'll end this like we ended all conversations, no matter what. I love you, man.

Those left to cherish his memory are children, Steven Standlee, Stephanie Standlee, Thomas Standlee; soul mate Anna Rutledge; and numerous extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Bob and Nellie Standlee.

Not sure what to say?

You have always been my friend and you taught Sherry and I the lyrics to Knocking on your Door by Deep Purple
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES .

Steve you were one heck of a boss and one hell of a friend. You supported me through my military career. You were always reading a Steven king book when we talked. I would walk behind the movie theatre and there you were by the door reading a book on your break. Steve I love you brother. I hope you are reading all the steven king books there are up there. Miss you and you will always be remembered.

Steve we had bad times but more good times than most. You will always be in my heart. Our motorcycle rides were memorable, but our best is raising three amazing strong children: Stephanie, Steven and Thomas. They all have your eye for finding mistakes in movies and can tell how the movie will end at the start of the movie. None of them can read a book without seeing all the grammatical mistakes and yet they all share our love of reading. We did good as you would say. We will carry on the...

So very sorry about Steve. My sympathy to Anna and Family.

I love you guys so much.

We miss you Steve!

Rest in peace Steve. May God bless you and your family. Tony

We present this guestbook to you with deepest compassion and with our sincerest expression of sympathy.
