Nov 20, 1957 – Jun 23, 2019 (Age 61)
Stephen Charles Vento, age 61, passed away peacefully and surround by love on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 20, 1957 to Louis Joseph Vento and Mary Ann Giannetta Vento, Steve was a devoted father and loving husband. He lived in Vienna, VA with his wife, Rebecca Trumble Vento, and is survived by his 3 brothers, Richard, David, and Michael. Steve is preceded in death by his sister, Mary-Lou. Steve adored his two children Jennifer Lynn Kunkel Vento and Anthony Louis Vento [with Diana Regitano], and grandchildren from Anthony and Jodie Vento, Adelynn Marie, Anthony Stephen and Vincent Joseph Vento, as well as one energetic, tennis ball-loving canine companion, Dixie. Steve's family was always his number one priority, and he was always available with endless love and support. In addition to his deep love for family, Steve was a dedicated businessman who genuinley loved engaging with people and working to help everyone he could, however he could. Steve truly loved his work and was involved in a variety of projects, from the construction of cancer centers across the country and large government jobs to smaller, local projects. Every job he took on, he did it with great affection, and was always thinking outside the box. His passionate involvement in Phoenix Bikes is one of the greatest testaments to his big heart, where he greatly enjoyed working with those kids. If ever there were a child in need of anything, Steve was there: he was always there for all of us. Steve's generous spirit and big heart will be celebrated at private memorials in both Pittsburgh, PA and Vienna, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Phoenix Bikes at www.phoenixbikes.org are welcomed.

I worked with Steve back in the late 80's building cancer centers. Was a heady time. Steve was so energetic and smart as could be. He was truly larger than life. I wish I had kept up with him over the years. What a great guy. Way too young...

Miss you every day Dad. I wish you were here to see the kids grow and for them to know what a great father and teacher you were. Your energy and excitement for life were always infectious and is something I try to replicate with my family now. It was hard to put anything down in writing for the longest time because I didn’t want it to be real.
Love always, your son.

Rebecca,
I am so very sad to hear about Steve. He was such a wonderful and unique person. He had so much love and generosity in his very being. You just couldnt help loving Steve...he was what love is. I am so grateful that I got to know him and spend time with you two even though it was brief. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Love, Sharon (Trumble) McDonough

Steve was the most compassionate person I was ever graced to meet. He was always there for me and pretty much raised me. I would not be the person I am today if he had not been there for me. I owe him everything. He will be sorely missed by me and my family. He was the one who taught us how to be a family.
Love you Steve ... Sweet Chuck, what I would not give to grab the hook one more time.

Together in March 2019 for an Italian dinner.
His grandkids knew him as Poppy. Our friend group knew him as the Italian Stallion and, during one infamous New Years Eve mystery game, as the politically incorrect character Won Kee Nee. But no matter what you called him, Steve Vento was one of a kind.
He had a ready smile and an infectious laugh.
He was generous to a fault, yet he didnt hesitate to save popcorn buckets for discounted refills on the Rehoboth boardwalk.
He could talk for hours about the...

It is with great sorrow and shock that I learned Steve had passed away. We were on a cruise when I got the news. I was sitting with my family of 17, when I just dropped my phone and started crying. The server rushed over and asked why I was dismayed. I told him I just found out a dear friend had passed. My whole family was shook up. I have only known Steve a year and a half, but in that short time, I had gained a very special friend. My heart breaks for Rebecca, and the rest of the Vento...
