STEVEN ALDERTON

Steve was a good man. I worked with him and learned from him. He also taught me a thing or two about art. He said it was a good thing to be honest with yourself and willing to give up a work of art if you realize it wasn't as good as you thought. Sorry I'm late Steve but thanks for your insight.

Steve's friend of twenty years, Heidi, just called me to tell me of Steve's passing. I am shocked. Steve was one of my professors in Communications at Wayne State University in Detroit in the early 80s when we became friends. After he moved to DC, I carved time out of every trip to Washington to spend time with Steve. I credit my love of art to my "Uncle" Steve. I remember our Thanksgivings together in D.C. growing up and how he always encouraged me to think outside the box and be creative. It saddens me to know we will never get a chance to discuss parts of his life we were meaning to but I am happy to have had the time I did with such a great person.

So very sad about Steve's untimely passing. We worked together for 15 years at the GSA-OIG, and I always enjoyed Steve's sense of humor, his worldliness, his intelligence, and his artistic passion. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be sorely missed.
