Brewer And Otis, Maine
BREWER and OTIS - Steven Thomas Andrews, 64, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born July 13, 1949, in Bangor, the son of Robert and Marion (Thomas) Andrews.
Steve grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High School and attended the University of Maine. He served his country in the Air National Guard 101st Air Wing. He worked for many years as a lineman for New England Telephone Company. Steve had a tireless work ethic and after his retirement from the phone company he owned and operated Downeast Mobile Powerwash. Even though he loved his work, Steve's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family at his camp on Beech Hill Pond. He was an accomplished water-skier, and enjoyed boating, windsurfing, and all other water activities. Steve had a kind and generous heart, a fun loving spirit, an enthusiasm for adventure and an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and co-workers. He was a giving person who always put the needs of others before his own and he mentored not by words only, but with patience and love. At the center of Steve's life was his beloved family. He was a loving and devoted husband, a caring and supportive father, a compassionate and kind brother, as well as an affectionate and helpful son. He shined with affection in the presence of his precious grandchildren who called him PaPa, and beamed with pride around his daughter Kim and exuded kindness and generosity to everyone he met.
He is survived by his mother, Marion Andrews; his wife, Nancy (Price) Andrews; a daughter, Kimberley Lucy and her husband, Jim; and three grandchildren, Grace, Jenna, and Ben. He also leaves behind his twin sister, Kathy Hamel and her husband, Brian. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Andrews.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.

My family just learned about Steve's terrible death yesterday. Steve has been a key tie for many of us to our camp on Beech Hill. Steve reduced the stress of our setting up camp time by installing the pump and dock before we arrived. While Steve did those tasks well, he was much more for us than a good worker. It was his strength, attention to what was happening, wisdom and good humor that made him a great guy to "get caught up with" with and to then talk about what was happening now or...

I was shocked and saddened when I opened the paper last month and saw Steve's picture! Steve did some powerwashing at my house on several different occasions and he was always professional, knowledgable, polite and a true gentleman!
I am so sorry for his family to have had to endure such a tragic loss! I am so sorry that he is gone!
He will be missed by all and my heart goes out to you all!

Kathy, Nancy, Kim, and families,
We are very saddened and shocked by the death of your loved one, Steve. He was always so vibrant and friendly. We have known Steve since high school, and he hadn't changed a bit. Whenever Steve stopped by our place on the lake, you can bet that he always was wearing his big smile. He will be greatly missed and always remembered. Prayers for you, Nancy. God bless you all with peace and love.
