Not sure what to say?

I know its been years since his passing, but I often think of him and how much he taught me. I'm a nurse of 29 years now and to this day have never encountered another like Dr Applegate. He taught me more in the few years I worked for him than anyone else my entire career. The world lost one of the best MDs and human being ever. I was always amazed at how many of his patients were misdiagnosed and after seeing Dr Applegate, he would have them diagnosed within 5 minutes. If not, he always new...

He was a great man and would've been a great grandfather I wish I could've meat him when I was older and not just a baby but I hope he is remembered for as long as there is the light of day and I wish he was still alive to meet sam, Sara, and Jenny's new little girl.

I knew Dr. Applegate was ailing last year when I had a physical. I just heard of his passing. He was a great help to me on several occasions, both as a doctor and as an encourager. I always felt his thinking aloud was his way of being thorough. My prayers and best wishes to the family and his staff.

Dr. Applegate was our family doctor for over 18 years. He was always there in an emergency and had such a compassion. He will be missed by all in the Middletown and Pewee Valley community.

After nearly 20 years of loving and continuous service, Steve could not conduct my annual physical exam on Nov. 13th because he was doing poorly. But, he was scheduled to perform it right up to that morning. That was just like him. He loved his work and to help folks know "what can kill them" as he would spout (in his unique rapid-fire way) a steady stream of preventitive health maintenance axioms. I'll miss his keen medical mind and willingness to teach us and share his own health...

It will be hard to fill Dr. Applegates shoes. He was one of a kind. I was the last patient he accepted and he helped me in so many ways.

May God Bless His Sole

I came to know Dr. Applegate when he became my father's physician for a short while. My father was not comfortable with doctor's - he would get nervous, agitated, feel vulnerable, angry, etc.... but when we met Dr. Applegate, at the close of the visit, I asked my Dad if he was ready to go, he just smiled, looked at Dr. Applegate, and said, "No, not really". What a special gift from God!

Stephanie,

My heart goes out to you and your family. My husband was diagnosed with that...

I have been reading through all of the entries and they all express how I feel about this special person, Dr. Applegate. As many others, my family as well as my parents were fortunate enough to have Dr. Applegate take care of us for many years. He was a special person, a humble person that didn't need a fancy car or material things to be happy in life. He had his family and anyone could tell they were the light of his life. He would tell me stories about them from time to time and you...

I feel alone. Dr. Applegate was my answer to so much. He originally diagnosed me w/MS when no one else could in 1994. Although I did not know his personal life, my heart goes out to all of you who were touched by him. I am truly so sorry that he is no longer here, however, I am so thankful that heaven has an angel that is one of a kind.
