We were so very sorry to learn of Pastor Steve's sudden passing from this life. He was an extraordinary man of wisdom, wit and great compassion. We were blessed to have him as our pastor at St. John-Arnold and as a neighbor. Though our paths have not crossed in many years due to moves across country, he and his family have never been away from our thoughts, hearts, and prayers. Well done, good and faithful servant. We'll meet again in Heaven's Home! Love and comforting prayers to all of the...

Pastor Benke will be missed tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. My husband had the honor of being confirmed by him when he was younger at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arnold. He is also the one who baptized me and he married my husband and I a little over 15 years ago. We enjoyed attending St. John's when he was there. He will be missed.

I had the privilege of meeting this kind man of God when He and Jefferson Hills Church joined with Oasis Church of Arnold to build a new home for my husband and I In 2007. They got to see each other again in heaven (Les in 2012). I will never forget what they did to make our lives so much better....God bless his family and friends with the Peace that only He can give......Linda Bailey....Kimmswick

What a tragic loss. We had the privilege of being Steve's neighbors for many years. He always had a smile and a kind word. His love for life was inspiring. We can say he made out lifes better by knowing him.
Our hearts go out to the family. He will be truly missed.

So sorry to hear of this tragic loss. I have great memories of being in the St. John's Lutheran Church youth group when I was younger where he was actively involved. Such a great person.

Pastor Steve will definitely missed, but his spirit and legacy will live on through all the people he touched and ministered to. He never knew a stranger because he always took time to get to know you. The heavens are rejoicing for this dear servant of Christ. I pray one day to be dancing with you around the throne of God!!!
