Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Crystal Lake Obituary

Steven “Benny” Benson
Of Crystal Lake

Steve was born June 7, 1953 in Elgin to John and Ethel (nee Erickson) Benson.  He passed away peacefully at his home March 14, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Steve was an owner of Quality Jig Grinding for 40 years.  He was an avid sports fan who loved March Madness and his beloved Cubbies.  The Cubs World Series win was the icing on the cake.  Mostly Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his girls. He was a “glass half full” kind of guy who was born on a sunny day.

He is survived by his bride, Jeanne (nee Moriarty);  whom he married September 13, 1980 in Crystal Lake; daughters, Sarah (Stefan) Shemaitis, Kristen Benson, and Anne (Jake Walkner) Benson; granddaughter Bryn and her soon to be baby sister; brothers, Scott (Maureen) Benson and Kurt (Linda) Benson; and sister, Linda Benson.  Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1-4pm, Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to JourneyCare Foundation, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL  60025.

Rest in peace my friend. Our paths crossed for a relatively short time these past couple years, too short, yet just long enough for you to make a positive lasting impression on me and our mutual friends before completing your journey here on earth. I'm better to have met you. See you in the next go around.

You will be greatly missed my friend, condolences to the family..Linda so sorry for the loss of your brother..
