Steven Josiah Blair

Obituary

Aug. 22, 1988 to Sept. 18, 2007

LAUREL - Our son, Steven Josiah Blair, entered into this world on Aug. 22, 1988. A beautiful baby son, given by God, to Steven P. and Susanne L. Blair; born in Missoula at Missoula Community Hospital. He was taken home to Heaven so suddenly on Sept. 18, 2007, as the result of a tragic single motor vehicle accident on I-94.
Steven was a busy child; ADHD, the teachers said. As his Mommy, I say he was full of spirit and life … always "inventing" and building things. Steven and his little brother Tyler were always busy creating and just enjoying each other. As our family made two moves from Helena to Bozeman and then to Laurel in the matter of two years, my two sons became extra close, as all they had were each other.
As Steven grew older, he loved fishing and hunting with his Dad and brother. The four-wheelers soon became a big part of their outdoor excursions.
Near middle school, Steven became very involved in activities at the Family Christian Church in Laurel. He dedicated his life to his Lord Jesus and served in the church in many capacities, most important to him, his guitar playing on the Worship Team. Steven loved his guitar playing and did it to the glory of the Lord. Any extra time he had was spent practicing his guitar and writing music. He also made time for his many friends and he was well respected by all, as he was the sort of young man who always stood by his beliefs even when it wasn't the popular thing.
Steven was thrilled, this past June, to graduate from Laurel High School. He began to pursue his "heart's" interests, which included playing on the worship team for the "Boiler Room," where he had made many friends. He also began to work construction for the Pastor of the boiler room, Josh Brown, who also owned Cornerstone Construction. Steven was, most recently, learning to roof and also install siding. Steven's life was cut way too short and he would have accomplished much should he have been given the chance. Steven lived a short life, yet a life very well lived. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
Steven is survived by his mama Susie; his daddy Steven; brother Tyler Blair; grandparents, Joe Blair, Jerry and Linda Walters, Alma and Glenn Bowen; several aunts, uncles and cousins, as he came from a large and loving extended family; and had many, many good friends. Steven joins his Grandma Kathryn Blair in heaven.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Family Christian Center in Laurel, at 1 p.m.
In memoriam, donations may be made to the Family Christian Center Church, 1002 Third Ave.; or the Laurel Public Library, 720 W. Third, Laurel, MT 59044.

Steven,
I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am that this happened. Mom called me today to let me know. I really don't even know what words to say at a time like this but I just wanted to let you and your family know we are praying for you.

I will always remember Steven as the guy who stood by us when my daughter was learning to walk and he said "We need to walk; we are too content to crawl."
He was a man that loved to be around friends and talk about God.
He left some really big shoes to fill. Its our turn to carry on the work that God began in Steve.
There is no doubt that we will see him again and I imagine Steve will look even taller when we do.
We are praying for his family and trusting God for them.

When I think of Steve...the first thought that comes to mind is: The amazing gitarist that I graduated with. The kind-spirited man that walked the halls and talked to many. My thoughts and prayers go out to Steve and his family. I am sorry to hear about your loss.
