Not sure what to say?

15 years Steve! Still seems like yesterday. I think of you and speak of you so often you're still part of our lives! Flowers, horses, cars, drinks, city race driving, laughing, serious talks, golf coverage, special filming, opera, lightning storms, oh no, close that sunroof!!! And more!! What a ride with you! And I continue to be so proud to have called you my dear friend. Love ya, Suellen and Gary

I still think of him so often. He was a man not easily forgotten.

I didn’t work in the newsroom, but did have contact with Steve in my various duties. I could also count on a cheerful greeting and big smile first thing in the morning when I walked through the newsroom. Steve was always very patient when I had a request of him – even though it interrupted his “flow” of work. The last time I heard his voice was on the 2-way when 10TV went live from my backyard during the big windstorm in September – he was laughing. I’ll always have that to remember. My...

Every time I saw him I would call him Broccoli and he would say how are you doing Mr. Reitzel. He was really curious about how everyone else was doing and rarely complained about his own problems. He would walk around with his shoes untied, unshaved and bedhead, but you couldn't help but love him. He would call at 1:30am to ask if I could cover spot news. He had a way of being so sympathic of what he was asking, that I could not be upset with him. I had the good luck of shaking his hand...

I'm so sad, and still shocked. I remember visiting you on July 4th when I was 12 and Steve was 16. He was cleaning the neighbor's pool as a summer job, and he was so handsome. I had a little crush on Steve, my Teenaged Cousin. A smart, fun-loving and kind person. He will be greatly missed.

Dearest Jean and Family,
We are saddened by the news of Steve's death. Our family has been the on the receiving end of your warmth and loving smile countless times. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We are here for you as you grieve.

When I heard about Steve's passing and thought back, I realized that we were friends for over 20 years. It's so very hard to remember when we weren't. We shared many Broadway Series shows (Les Miserables was our very favorite), many laughs, many tears, and a few cocktails along the way. He even videoed my wedding and added soundtracks and voiceovers. I bet not many people's wedding coverage begins with the countdown from Apollo 13. He was truly one of a kind, and will be sorely missed.

Steve had the ability to coordinate news coverage, have fun, and take time to say a good word to others. A rare combination in a newsroom.
A real pro. He will be missed.

Jean and Norm, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know that your many fond memories of Steve and the memories that others are sharing with you will give you comfort. Bruce & Melissa join me in extending our deepest sympathy.
