Not sure what to say?

Just yesterday I drove thru the old neighborhood with my youngest son and telling him about all the people I grew up with. I have very good memories of Bruce and the entire Coles family. The neighborhood has changed but we will always have our memories of our childhood friends.

Bruce, I never got to say goodbye. You grew up with my mother Pam Yeo. You spent many nights with her my brother and I. You were very kind to me and I have never forgot that. I wish I could have known you better in my older years. My mother loved you more than you'll ever know. Goodbye old friend.

Very sad to hear about Bruce's passing. I have known him for over 50 years, grew up in Alger Heights with him. What a great guy to talk to, his WWII stories were the best. Many great memories. R.I.P.

A heartfelt thank you to all who stopped by the funeral home and signed the guest book sharing memories of my big brother, Bruce. Your support and kind words mean more than you can imagine to my Dad, brother Brian, relatives, friends, neighbors, coworkers and I. In the end, all we have are memories and I shall cling to the good ones. He was a gentle soul with a very dry sense of humor and extraordinary intelligence. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in final...

Thanks to everyone who has signed the guestbook and to everyone who stopped by Zaagman Memorial for your support and kind words. It all means a lot to me, my Dad Jim Coles and sister Carolyn. For all of you from the Silver Derby and the neighborhood you and Bruce have reminded me once again of how proud I am to have grown up in a blue collar family. We all(and Bruce) are truly the heart and soul of the USA.
Many regards,

Brian Coles - Bruce's brother

Just received the news of Bruce's death today. Very sorry to here it. I've know Bruce since the fifth grade, & I've always considered him a good friend. He always had a good sense of humor, & always had something to talk about. Their was never a dull moment when he was around. I moved up north 16 years ago, & haven't seen him for 20 years or so. Sorry I didn't keep in touch. I will miss you Bruce, & will always remember the good times. My thoughts go out to his family, & friends

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

As the oldest grandchild, I remember Bruce, Brian and Carolyn when they were very small - and all so beautiful and fun-loving.
I didn't get to know Bruce very well because our family wasn't able to spend that much time in Grand Rapids. But I know we all share happy memories of the Farm and of our wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousins. These treasured memories will live on. I wish I'd been able to get to know Bruce better.
Love to Uncle Jim, Carolyn, Brian and all the family
