Here's a picture of Steve and me a few days after the VaTech tragedy. He agreed to pose with me in solidarity for those in mourning.

Steve was one of the first people I met when I moved into our neighborhood in 2003. He was friendly and very funny. He used to "supervise" my work on outside home projects and then let me know his bill would be in the mail. He loved to talk about how proud I must be of my kids. He also liked to ask hard questions about life and God. We spent lots of time joking about the state of the world. He had a great life story and kindly introduced me to some of his family.
