Not sure what to say?

Dear Carrie, Thank you for the Legacy-Memory of Steve; as well your lovely letter regarding something I had written about him. I have Morgan's handprint cemented forever near our carport dated 1987. Not a day over a year it seems he placed his hand over Morgan's then shoved her hand in the muck. One thing for sure- Steve was the better part of the world we live in- warrior or citizen. You never knew which one was going to delight the day. Kim Bowlin

Mr. DeVoe was my favorite teacher when I was in VAPA. He always accepted who I was and gave me not only an education, but many tools I still use today. He was my mentor. His was incredibly committed to excellence. He challenged me and made me admire qualities such as honesty, honor, self sufficiency, and empathy. While Mr. DeVoe may no longer reside with the living his memory and teachings live through his family, friends and students. Mr. DeVoe thank you for everything.

Steve DeVoe did the framing on our home. During the work it became obvious that Steve was not like the rest of us. Going over the prints of our house (of which we paid a small fortune for) DeVoe said, "A fifth grader could have drawn-up better plans." I told him he could make any changes he wanted; and meant it. He was delighted.
He deleted the eight foot ceiling joists and angled our rafters into a fourteen foot living room of finished beams and woodwork.
I vividly remember him...

Steve and I crossed paths at various parts of our lives, but the memories will always be happy ones. I believe his brother tried to teach me how to shoot a rifle when I was “hanging out” at Branson’s in Parker. After we got to know each other again at CVHS, we discovered we had been neighbors in La Quinta. I had a huge admiration for Steve’s integrity, hard work, and passion for teaching. I adored watching the musicals he helped to create through his expertise in...

Steve will be missed by all who knew him; he was always there to help anyone in need. My deepest condolences to his family.

Steve DeVoe was a very caring and multitalented teacher. His students were benefitted by his many talents and the wisdom that he shared with with them at CVHS. I remember that of all the high schools he could have worked at, CVHS was his first choice because of the students he met there while subbing. RIP, Steve.

He was a man of intellect, good humor, courage and great story telling! I’ll pray for his family.

Steve was a really good addition to the English department at CV High. I know many people who will miss him. May God bless his family.
